I Get to Go to Work Today!
Apr 24, 2024Focus on Gratitude, Often.
Have you and I ever discussed the concept of "I get to go to work." versus "I have to go to work."? It's such a beautiful thought to consider.
When we focus on "getting" to do things in life, we find gratitude in day-to-day moments. We get to go to work, we get to workout, we get to pick the kids up from school, we get to do the dishes. Ok, the last one might be a stretch, but through the way we speak to ourselves, we change our mindset for the better. By simply swapping the phrase "I get to..." instead of "I have to...", you are creating a positive feeling toward the action you're doing. Our brains are so powerful. When you speak with this positive connotation, we convince ourselves we really do like the activity, and end up looking forward to it rather than dreading it.
Group Coaching and Leadership Facilitations have been a part of this business I have really loved lately. It's so easy for me to think "Wow, I get to go to work today and help businesses learn how to be better leaders!". These business owners and teams are leaning in to develop themselves as better leaders for their companies and in turn, their customers. They're creating for their teams a mindset of "I get to come to work today!".
What is one activity you can start applying the thought "I get to..." instead "I have to..."? Try swapping it out this weekend and notice how you start enjoying it a bit more. I'll go first- "Man, I'm so excited I get to wash all the bedding this weekend."
We're all a work in progress, right?! 😉
